Mat went very in depth on the world building and background of the campaign, including our character backstories, development and spiritual arcs during the campaign, which he integrated seamlessly into the framework of the module. The combats we had were dangerous and tense, but always very fair, and I did appreciate that they worked well to demonstrate the odds we were up against. It was very noticeable that he put a lot of effort into the campaign, and he was always looking to improve on what was written in the module.
He always made room for roleplay and made the NPCs’ motivations and actions believable and, especially once you knew more about them, understandable. Together this led to me caring a lot for both other PCs as well as the NPCs, and the story overall. The campaign has meant a lot to me and now, years later, I still remember so many details very vividly."
About me
Nice to meet you! I'm Matheus, but most people call me NeonCogs or Mat online. I started playing in 2013 after watching Rollplay, one of the first DnD streams. I had dabbled with the then-recent 4th edition but fell in love with AD&D and ran a homebrewed campaign named "Domhan - Rise of Kings" that ran for 5 years. Later, I started playing 5th edition with the same group, and we completed the Out of the Abyss module in three years. I had finished my bachelor's in Computer Science, and so my schedule changed. I made a new group, and we finished the Tyranny of Dragons modules in 2 years.
